Day Two: Sarria - Portomarín

I'm back. I'm back on the camino and it is nothing less than amazing, spectacular, exciting. I am so happy that it turned out the way it did and that I can travel freely in Spain now.

This morning when I started walking it was raining outside. Even the owner of the coffee shop where I had breakfast said that it was unusually cold for this season but that it could also change within two days and be as hot as it usually is in May. When I continued walking I ran into a couple, also pilgrims, who were stuggling to put on their rain coats. By now it was pouring. As I was coming closer I said hello and asked them when they had started the pilgrimage and where they were from. They said that they had started today as well and that they were from the south of Spain. The girl said: "With this kind of water we don't even leave the house!" I laughed. Apparently in the southern part of Spain it hardly ever rains so they might not even have a word for it. Not sure.

These are the signs that show the way of the camino. They are slightly different to the ones in France.

Other pilgrims! I had to get used to seeing more and more that after a while I gave up counting.

Graffiti on the wall

I had seen "Jesus" on a few walls and then "Michael Jackson". I guess both changed our world!

And then the sun came through!

100 km to go til Santiago

What a neat idea!

Portomarín in the distance

It's located right by a river.

My first walking destination. I made it!
