This morning we went to the market just outside the house. We found some vegetables and fruits that weren't even familiar to my friend who is a local of this area. That just shows how abundant Peru is in its agriculture. We bought quite a lot for me to try and obviously to make the people happy.

Did you know that there are more than 5.000 different kinds of potatoes in the world, about 3.800 alone in the Andes? You can also find many different varieties in Peru. Above is only a small selection. We bought some from the bag second from the right. The instruction of the farmer: leave it out in the sun for 4 days before you cook it. Also, it's one of the sweet potatoes.
I found it interesting that chickens are being sold like this without being cooled, just in the open.
