Day Twenty One: Moissac - Auvillar

I stepped out of the house and saw a man vacuuming the ground outside. It looked like this:

Oh well, I thought. Other countries have different customs.

The walk today was not too spectacular. It was by a canal for most of the time.

We walked through a very small place called Espalais. French people are so polite!
(Espalais welcomes you, water and shade are at the exit of the village.)

Crossing the bridge we could already see Auvillar, our destination for the day:

Once we made it up we could look down at the water again.

The city center:

Our hostel for the night from the outside:

I couldn't believe my eyes when we were asked to come in by our wonderful welcoming half German host:

The staircase is original and was dated back to 1496. On the right is the kitchen area.

The house is cold but it has a fire place on every level. This is where we'll be sitting tonight.

Lemons on the balcony

This is by far - I mean by very far - the very best place we have found for the night. The whole house is about 500m3. Parts of it are under construction since the owner is letting someone put new outlets in every single room (I have no idea how many rooms there are since the house is massive). We are the first pilgrims/guests our host is having this year. Pilgrim season is starting and we are so lucky to be the first ones here and motivate her to finish quickly so this house can be full of people again soon. Also she is expecting a lot of people this summer. If anyone is feeling like helping her out, she will be looking for volunteers. I'd be more than happy to connect people with her.
